Southtrade is proud to announce it has entered into a agreement with The Holey Dollar Rum Distilling Company to exclusively distribute Holey Dollar Rum in Australia as it has a great reputation for passion for the product that they sell and to the commitment to service from their sales team for both on-premises and liquor retailers.
It’s taken 200 years for a rum to be created which truly captures the spirit of the early Australian colonies. Holey Dollar Rum is named after the first real currency that became available in NSW in the early 1800’s. Spanish coins were punched to form a small coin from the middle, and the surrounding coin with a hole in it - thus the Holey Dollarwas born. Prior to the introduction of these coins rum was the unofficial form of currency used in the barter based first settlement. The rum which entered Port Jackson via ship was controlled by the NSW Corps or the ‘Rum Corps’ as they became known until the arrival of the Spanish coins.

Holey Dollar is aged for three years in charred oak barrels. The extra ageing gives it a stronger flavour and richer colour than most rum. It is bottled in Australia by the Australian-owned Holey Dollar Rum Company. It is available at 40% alc/vol in a Silver Coin label which was awarded a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition this year. It is also available Over Proof at 57.2% in a Gold Coin label which was awarded bronze in its category at the same competition.
